5 Months

Madelyn Leigh Smith, you entered our lives five months ago screaming, and did not stop until you were about twelve weeks old. I cried a lot too, because you never slept, and did I mention, you cried, a lot?

You went from lots of tears, to a whole lot of smiles!! Layed back and just happy to be here!

  • You weigh about 17 lbs ( I snuck you onto the scale when we took Sophie to the doctor)

  • Sleep anywhere from 10-12 hrs @ night

  • You love to watch Sophie play

  • Your favorite toy is the exersaucer

  • love your cereal with fruit

  • You have eyes for your mama. I think you are going to be a mama's girl.

  • have a couple of nicknames: Miss Maddie, Miss Veazy, Miss Mad (when you cried all the time)

  • when you get excited you squeal this high pitched little noise

  • sat up for the first time with Aunt Sally on the couch

Dear Miss Maddie,

I have a certain tender place for you, because I am also a little sister. You will grow up always watching Sophie and trying to imitate her every move. I look at you and Sophie and my heart is full, because I know just how much you will come to mean to each other. You, my sweet baby, have been given the best place as far as birth order is concerned!

"The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17

You are so right, Becky. I know I do not have to tell you how lucky you are to have your big sister so close to you (both geographically and emotionally). Enjoy her as often as you can! I feel that I never see either of my sisters and they both stay so busy, we rarely talk. I pray your girls manage to stay close throughout their lives!
