Saturday Morning

The plan was to meet Eleanor first thing this morning for a jog.  I overslept and I had a headache.  Bummer!  So, I made my coffee and Maddie's bottle while Sophie and Mabry slept a little longer.  I decided to make pancakes and sausage for breakfast (Sophie's favorite)!  I keep my big griddle stored in the garage, and when I went outside to get it I discovered it was unusually cool.  I knew I had to go for a run after breakfast.  I could not pass on the opportunity of that glorious weather on a July morning in south Georgia!

When Sophie woke up and joined Miss Maddie and me, the three of us snuggled for a bit on the living room floor.  Sweet, sweet time.  I have never been a morning person, (my mama can confirm this), but I guess that is because I did not know how sweet these kind of mornings can be with my babies.

As soon as I started cooking breakfast, Sophie told me she did not like sausage or milk.  I am slowly learning not to disagree with a two year old when they make declarations such as this.  She is merely trying to see how far we can go with this head butting.  I just said, "You don't have to eat the sausage, but daddy loves it."  Defused.  When I served her plate she said again, "I don't like sausage or milk!".  And I replied, "Don't eat it, it's okay".  Defused again.  And you will never believe what happened 5 minutes later.....
Sophie exclaimed, "I love sausage and milk, it's delicious!".  I think I am on to her!!

After breakfast was cleaned up, sticky hands and mouths were wiped, and the kitchen was cleaned I knew I had to act fast to enjoy the beautiful weather I had discovered earlier.  I put my shoes and hat on, grabbed my ipod and headed out.  It was a great little run.  I am still not running an entire 5k, but I am slowly improving.  I am going to run in the Valdosta 5K in the morning.  I think the practice of the actual race will be good for my mental challenge of the big Sprint-Tri in August.  There is something about running alone versus running with a couple hundred people.

Now, I am going to try another paint color on my bedroom wall.  We painted just about every room in the house when we moved in, but did nothing to our bedroom.  Paint colors are hard to pick out!

We might take the girls to see the fireworks tonight for the 4th of July.  They don't start until 9:30.  Sophie would be fine, but I'm not sure how Miss Maddie would handle the late bedtime.  Happy 4th of July!!
